1 Do operators need certification for a pallet jack?
Yes, operators need certification for a powered pallet jack. OSHA 1910.178, enforced in Maryland by MOSH, covers powered industrial trucks, and an electric pallet jack is one. Training, evaluation and certification all apply. A purely manual hand jack is not a powered industrial truck, so that rule does not cover it. Safe handling training is still a good idea.
2 Walkie or walkie-rider?
The choice between a walkie and a walkie-rider comes down to travel distance. If operators walk long runs again and again, a rider model pays for itself quickly. It moves more loads and cuts fatigue. For short moves around a dock, a walk-behind is simpler and cheaper.
3 Can a walkie stacker replace a counterbalance truck?
A walkie stacker can sometimes replace a counterbalance truck for light-duty work at modest height in a small building. It will cost much less. For sustained rack work or anything above roughly 12 ft, it cannot. We would rather find out which case you are in before we quote.
